If you then hide the resources to learn, what will happen?

Crank and Glass are in my all time favorite books. So good. I was left staring at the wall for an hour after they finished. Such powerful stories. They're based on Ellen Hopkins' daughter's story. If there is an author worth obsessing over, she's the one.

I'll experiment with it later tonight. Really, there's no reason to not put it up, is there? Anything that can improve the traffic is worth doing, way I see it.

The entire community seems to be real friendly for us newbies. Just in the past week I've encountered so many friendly bloggers. It's really great to be able to ask whatever questions I need to.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13659984199652042465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295149472931283754.post-50408713988428352222013-03-28T20:13:39.804-05:002013-03-28T20:13:39.804-05:00Your rant to fuel mine, so we're good. Instead of protesting this kind of content, they should be begging to have it covered.

I ordered Hopkins' Crank from Amazon earlier this week, and I'm sure if I like it I'll begin making my way through all of her other books. I get obsessive like that with authors I really like. O.o

GFC is Google Friend Connect, it's that button that says Follow Me then shows some of your followers underneath. You see it on a lot of blogspot blogs. It's how I follow 95% of the blogs I frequently visit, and it's really easy to find if you go into design and layout, then click one of those "Add Gadget" buttons. Play around with it, you'll start to figure out how to add a lot of cool things that way.

And haha, I've only been blogging for around 7 months so I know how you feel. I had a friend who helped me, I was bugging her nonstop. I don't know what I'd have done without her.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04006202162871450425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295149472931283754.post-74597418202151779422013-03-28T19:55:09.835-05:002013-03-28T19:55:09.835-05:00What I don't understand is how someone can be ...What I don't understand is how someone can be so self important. What makes them think that because it offends their sensibilities, they have any right to even think about banning it? Since when is one person more important than everyone else, people who are in a position to gain from the book? People shelter their kids and then question why the schools didn't prepare then the realities of life. Meanwhile, when a school tries to implement an Ellen Hopkins or Chris Crutcher novel into their curriculum they are just about run out of town. It's all such a self-centered approach, where you come first and are definitively right. It saddens me. It's one of those times where a vocal minority dictates things. That's why I feel that I have to lend my voice, and shout right back at them.

The became a rant, didn't it? Sorry about that. On a related not, you may want to check this link out. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ellen-hopkins/banned-books-anticensorship-manifesto_b_744219.html The article is talking about Ellen Hopkins struggles with schools before, but at the bottom is a poem she wrote to all those that are trying to ban books.

If you are interested in Ellen Hopkins, I have several more of her books that I will be covering in the coming weeks. Tilt, Perfect, and Identical.

Okay, I feel slightly dumb asking, but what does GFC stand for? I am brand spanking new to this whole blogging thing, so... Yeah. I still have a youthful ignorance, or some such thing.

Thanks for the comment!

-Have a great day and read a good bookAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13659984199652042465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295149472931283754.post-43868464281144954152013-03-28T18:56:18.405-05:002013-03-28T18:56:18.405-05:00Oh, I forgot, one last thing! If you do add that GFC button and let me know over on my blog, I'd love to follow No BS Books!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04006202162871450425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295149472931283754.post-90273929761415103372013-03-28T18:53:59.763-05:002013-03-28T18:53:59.763-05:00First the ban issue; I agree, it's ridiculous....First the ban issue; I agree, it's ridiculous. But you've got so many people who don't want anyone to have differing opinions and think if they make a big enough fuss they'll get their way. I HATE those kinds of people, hate the very idea of censorship in literature. The world needs people like you writing reviews like this to offset closeminded negativity, because the messages in this novel are important, and all we'd accomplish by banning it is sweeping the dark things under the rug, where people won't be able to find the help or understanding they need. So thanks for bringing that up in your review.

I really liked this book! I agree with your review almost one hundred percent. I'm also not normally a poetry fan, but it worked in Impulse. I love how you described her words as more powerful, cutting out all the unnecessary fluff most novels have. This was a very well-written review.

One question; do you have a GFC Follow Me button on here? I don't see it, but maybe I just missed it. It's a huge tool in helping you get more followers, which means more pageviews and comments. You can find it really easily under gadgets in layout and add it to your side column. Hope this helps!

-Kelly @ PaperFantasiesAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04006202162871450425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295149472931283754.post-79830869383446440422013-03-27T20:59:30.983-05:002013-03-27T20:59:30.983-05:00Ellen Hopkisn decided to ignore every convention i...Ellen Hopkisn decided to ignore every convention involved in poetry. Her poems read like they were written from the heart instead of the brain, which is ideal for the stories she tells. I'd love to see her branch out into other genres to see if it works. Imagine a good dystopian written in free verse. It'd be so interesting to see if it at all works. I know she's mentioned that she wants to right a novel in prose someday too.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13659984199652042465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295149472931283754.post-4832951385954765302013-03-27T20:44:53.974-05:002013-03-27T20:44:53.974-05:00I loveeee Ellen Hopkins <3 I'm not a big po...I loveeee Ellen Hopkins <3 I'm not a big poetry fan, but somehow she makes it work!

-Nichole
www.yareads.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08520704071748012643noreply@blogger.com
